Filling gaps in the knowledge of grouper, especially Comb grouper (Mycteroperca acutirostris) (2013-2020) (Copacabana fishery, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)

There are gaps in our knowledge of important fish consumed by people tropical countries. Small-scale fisheries difficult to regulate, especially countries with no species monitoring. At Copacabana (Rio de Janeiro), we observed 490 individuals badejo (Comb grouper) (Mycteropeca acutirostris 2013-2014 and 2018-2020. The average catch was 1.36 kg (n=466 individuals). A pattern decreasing catches for Comb grouper. Therefore, provided that the fishing gear number have remained same, apparent decrease grouper needs be further investigated. results provide information about major spawning season, around spring (September-December) additional during April. Genetic analyses samples from 96 obtained along coast Brazil were conducted. Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) loci enabled us determine relative genetic proximity M.
